Sophie Habsburg

Niece to the last Emperor of Austria and closely related to the royal houses of Europe, was born in Paris and educated in England. She was attracted to the world of design at an early age by the awareness of her European heritage and her innate love of style and color.
She studied interior design at the prestigious Ecole Camondo in Paris and soon accepted a position at the office of the iconic David Hicks. While in Paris, she made the acquaintance of many stellar fashion figures, notably Valentino, Ungaro, Courrèges, Rochas and Versace. Her experience and friendship with these designers was inspiring, and it enhanced her enduring talent for turning craftsmanship into art.

In her privileged life, Sophie continues to feel an unsettling need to give back. She supports the SOS Children’s Village, which her Austrian grandmother was deeply committed to, and she contributes to a variety of other charities, including her church.

In 1989, she reconnected with her first love, Prince Mariano Hugo Windisch-Graetz, whom she married. They live in Rome with their son and daughter.
Sophie’s years of inspired creativity, both in fashion and interiors, led to the founding of Sophie Habsburg Design, a collection of richly colored, exquisitely crafted handbags for the most discerning woman.
